Provide resident care under direction of Wellness Services Director. Perform duties such as bathe, dress, groom, transfer residents, change linens, laundry, meals service, medication administration, documentation, and any other duties pertaining to daily personal care. Follows specific daily duties detailed in the shower and laundry schedule.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Answer resident call buttons to determine residents' needs.
  • Provide physical support to assist residents to perform daily living activities, such as getting out of bed, bathing, dressing, using the toilet, and standing, walking, or exercising.
  • Measure and record vital signs, such as temperature, blood pressure, weight, pulse, or respiration rate, as directed by medical or nursing staff.
  • Observe residents to detect symptoms that may require medical attention, such as bruises, open wounds, or blood in urine; report findings to WSD.
  • Document or otherwise report observations of resident behavior, complaints, or physical symptoms to WSD.
  • Collect specimens, such as urine, feces, or sputum.
  • Apply clean dressings, slings, stockings, or support bandages, under direction of nurse or physician.
  • Change bed linens or make beds.
  • As delegated by Lead Resident Assistant (LRA) or Wellness Services Director (WSD), assumes direct supervision of keys for medication carts and residence master key.
  • Assists residents with daily medication management and/or administration; delivery of medication, tracking, monitoring and recording to ensure resident has taken the appropriate medication as prescribed; as delegated by RN.
  • Monitor and communicate to Wellness Director, resident medications and document in progress notes of personal care plan variations, problems and concerns observed.
  • Notes assisted living supplies and advises LRA or WSD when supply is near reordering.
  • Documents anything concerning resident's well being, such as, but not limited to, eating habits, visitors, behavior, medical and physical condition, incontinence/continence patterns, and mobility.
  • Provides oral report to shift change personnel.
  • Performs laundry service for residents.
  • Awakens resident to assist and or dress.
  • Assists residents with nighttime toileting, including emptying and rinsing out commodes/urinals for residents requiring such services.
  • Make rounds to check on resident status.
  • Assists and/or undresses/dresses residents who may have soiled self and/or bedding.
  • Make sure premises are secure and all outside entryways are locked.
  • Assists residents to and from dining area during meal times.
  • Serves meals/assists with dining room tasks.
  • Assist residents in lying down for rest times.
  • Check on resident well-being as per ISP.

Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required

Experience: Prefer experience working in a senior adult setting.

Certifications &Licenses: CNA preferred, but not required.

Other Requirements:    Must be able to follow instructions provided by LRA or WSD.

Desire to assist senior adults maintain independence as long as possible.

Must be at least 18 years of age.
